Engineering Firm Contract Negotiation Points

· Commitment to dedicate exceptionally qualified and experienced staff to
the project. State procedure for any unanticipated change in key
personnel, include all subconsultants.
· Define and detail methods to efficiently and effectively communicate with
TxDOT and the county using state of the art technology beyond e-mail,
fax, telephone and cellular phone. For example, a secure (equivalent to
password protected) web site with the ability to share information,
including drawings. All data should be current and to date. Programs
should be compatible with TxDOT and the county's systems.
· Submittals available for viewing on line. All submittals thoroughly checked
and approved before delivery.
· All advanced technology or innovative methods of approaching the project
should save time and money and produce a better product. For example,
must use most current versions of engineering and internet software with
a high percentage use of direct design using CADD.
· High level of commitment for informing and answering questions of the
general public. Address, construction sequencing and traffic control in
areas with major challenges when continuous access is needed. Provide
clear and adequate signage, always keeping in mind the needs of the
citizens traveling in the area.
· Commitment to work with personnel designing various sections of project.
Constant coordination of schedules with other firms, TxDOT and the
county.
· Single point contact person - project manager - able to answer all
questions regarding the project. Process should avoid being sent from
one person to another for current updates.
· High level of quality control at all stages.
· Provide all possible files to the county in the most currently used
acceptable electronic medium.
· Must meet all agreed upon deadlines.
