Engineers - Planners - Consultants 2730 Republic Bank Tower Dallas, Texas 75201 Subject: Proposed Public Water Supply Improvements City of Coppell Dallas County, Texas Dear Mr. Masters: Reference is made to your letter of August 27, 1980, transmitting planning material for the construction of a 16-inch diameter water transmission main approximately 3,910 feet in length and a 500,000 gallon ground storage tank. We note that the ground storage tank will be constructed partially below ground and equipped with an underdrain system which includes a sump pump. Two 1,000 gpm and one 700 gpm service pumps will be installed on the roof of the ground storage tank and equipped with vertical suction lines extending down into the tank. Both the ground storage tank and the transmission main will include all necessary piping, valves, controls, and related appurtenances. We have reviewed this planning material and it appears to have been prepared in general conformity with good public health engineering practices and may be considered approved for construction with the understanding that the water transmission main will be disinfected in accordance with "AWWA Standards". Particular attention should be given to the retention time of the chlorine solution in the transmission main during the disinfection procedure. We appreciate your cooperation in submitting this planning material for our review and hope that the proposed facilities can be provided at an early date, If we may be of assistance in the future, please let us know.
