RE: Obstructions Placed in Alley at 204 Finch
Dear Mr. Wood:
We have received complaints regarding several large rocks which have been placed
along the alley behind your house. These rocks have apparently been placed in the
alley in an attempt to force traffic to stay off the grass. The City of Coppell Code of
Ordinances, section 8-2-7 states "It shall be unlawful for any person to place,
maintain or display upon or in view of any highway, street or alley any
unauthorized sign, signal, marking or device which purports to be or is an imitation
of or resembles an official traffic control device or railroad sign or signal, or which
attempts to direct the movement of traffic, or which hides from view or interferes
with the effectiveness of any official traffic control device or any railroad sign or
signal." These rocks represent a traffic hazard and must be moved immediately.
The City of Coppell holds a 20' alley easement and a 50' right-of-way along
Shadowcrest Ln. This relates to about 10.5' behind the curb along Shadowcrest
n~-~ the center of the alley. The rocks to
need
be
moved
beyond
these
limits.
If the rocks are not removed by March 5, 2000, the City will be forced to remove
them. The resident across the alley from you has also been notified that the rocks
on their side need to be removed.
