Northlake Wood-CS 890628 Mr. Vlvyon Bowman Assistant City Manager City of Coppell 255 Park Way Coppell, Texas 75019 Dear Mr. Bowman: Thank you for talking to me on June 23rd, regarding damage to my residence at 577 Rocky Branch from high water. We have lived in Coppell for 12 years - in that time, my pool has been flooded ? times to a total of approximately $12,000. That includes hiring professionals to grade out the dry creek bed behind our house with a bobcat - installing railroad tires to raise a barrier against high water - numerous clearing of debris - repairs on pump, and heating equipment - replacement of the liner twice. The enclosed pictures are of the last normal rain in late spring of 1988. As you can see - my neighbors yards are also under water. Mr. Russell Doyle, our city engineer, came to our house to review the damage at that time. We were told that the city would get back to us. A number of years ago, I appeared before the Council - concerning this problem and was told it would be corrected, Just to give the city a few years to study and correct the problem. Well, its been a few years. We have not received any correspondence from the city regarding the damage from last year. Since that time, we have incurred the expense of filing in our pool with dirt and covering with grass to correct our problem. On June 6, 1989, we sustained more damage - this time to a 33 foot pear tree on a fence in the amount of $3279.50. It has become apparent to us that our pockets are not deep enough to live in Coppe11. I feel that we have a grave and dangerous situation with the drainage behind my house which has been ignored by the City. I respectfully ask that you review this hazard and take prompt and swift action, not only for safety, but; also regarding our monetary outlay which is beyond comprehension. Sincerely,
