This comSrms your request of June 15, 1993. for additional information regarding the flamespreact
testing of the material you have identified as "Shadesum Cloth".
Testing was conducted using the procedures specified in ASTM E84-91a on April 7, 1993, u~der
SwRI Projec~ No. 01-5215-384. For this test. a flamespmad index (FSI) of 10 and a smoke
developed index (SDI) of 30 was obtained.
TI~ major building codes in the United Smms (U.B.C., BOCA and SBCCI) provide for a flame
spread classification system:

These classifications have also bcen rcferrcd to as A, B, and C. The smoke developed index (SDD
must be less than 450 for pm(lucts intended for use in interior finish appiica~ons.
