Dear Mayor Shcehan:
I am concerned about the safety of my fellow students, teachers, and parents that
must drive to Coppell High School everyday. I have lived in Coppell all of my life and I
have seen this town grow 10 fold. In the process of growing, we are now facing several
pressing situations. Traffic is one problem I wish to focus on.
Traffic has become a major factor in a high sehooler's daily routine. I am forced
to attend school at 7:00 a.m. every morning so that I don't face the horrible traffic.
Leaving the school is an even worse situation. One entrance and exit with three flows of
traffic (buses, parents, and students) all trying to enter and leave at the same time is an
accident waiting to happen.
A major problem with our traffic jam is that any traffic on Parkway has the right
of way to cars on Cowboy Drive. I personally have seen two accidents involving this
intersection and I fear more are to come. A simple solution would bc to add two more
stop signs at the intersection of Cowboy Drive and Parkway making it a 3-way stop.
Better yet would be to have a traffic light.
This pressing situation is only going to get worse as our high school continues to
grow. Please stop this traffic before a major car accident occurs. No person deserves to
be injured or worse yet dic because of this foreseeable problem.
Thank you,
