STAFF COMMENTS:
In an attempt to expedite the construction of the 2~a High School Access Road and at the direction of
Council, staff contacted Rebcon, Inc., the contractor currently working on Denton Tap Road, about a change
order to their project. Rebcon has been very responsive during the course of the construction of Denton Tap
Road and basically has kept the project on schedule. After initial discussion with the representative of
Rebcon, Inc., there was an indication that it would be possible to execute a change order such that the 2"d
High School Access Road could be completed sometime in early August or possibly before the beginning of
the school year. The wall and road humps did add some additional cost to the project, however, from a safety
standpoint both of those items have been deemed to be necessary.
Staff is currently working with the property owner in finalizing the necessary right-of-way and dealing with
the utility companies to bring about the relocations so that the project can proceed. In an attempt to expedite
the project and hopefully have it constructed prior to the school year, staff recommends the award of Change
Order #3 to Rebcon, Inc. in the amount of $230,520.00 for the construction of the 2"d Access to the High
School.
Staff will be available to answer questions at the Council meeting. ~~ ~
