Dear Mr. McCann:
As requested, two additional moisture evaluations have been completed for the referenced
project. These evaluations were performed to evaluate the building pad after four and five water
injections.
The first evaluation was performed on January 4, 1994. A total of 6 borings were made for this
study (Borings M-13-3 to M-15-3 and M-19-2 to M-21-2) at the locations indicated on the
attached Figure 1. Moisture content and hand penetrometer tests were performed on all soil
samples and Atterberg limits and swell tests were performed on selected samples. Results of
these tests are attached. Moisture content test results in these borings indicated that soils in
these borings after 4 injection passes are at/or above the desired moisture levels. Select fills
should be placed as soon as possible after the subgrade is properly compacted in these areas (see
Figure 1) to preserve the existing moisture levels.
The areas south of Borings M-19-2 through M-21-2 were reinjected (fifth water injection) and
Borings M-25-2 to M-29-2, M-31-2 to M-33-2, M-34-1 to M-35-1, and M-37-2 to M-42-2 were
made on January 6, 1994 to evaluate this portion of the building pad. The location of these
borings are shown on the attached Figure 2. Moisture content and hand penetrometer values
were determined each soil sample and Atterberg limits and swell tests were performed on
selected samples. Results of these tests indicated that these locations, with the exception of
Borings M-37-2 to M-39-2 (see Figure 2), were at/or above their desired moisture levels.
Installation of select fill should proceed as soon as the subgrade is properly prepared in these
areas to preserve the existing moisture levels.

Laboratory test results indicate that the soils in Borings M-37-2 to M-39-2 have moisture
contents slightly below the desired levels. Based on their present moistures and typical increases
achieved with each water injection, we recommend that these areas be reinjected with water and
a surfactant one additional time under the supervision of a Terracon representative. Select fills
should then be placed as soon as the subgrade is properly compacted in these areas to preserve
the existing moisture levels.
