Park West CC(4)-CS 940422 MEMORANDUM ~.. To: Jim Witt, City Manager From: Kenneth M. Griffin, P.E., Assistant City Manager/City Engineer ~ RE: Fees for M J Design Date: April 22, 1994 As requested, I have looked at the fee calculations for M l Design. I spoke with Greg Jones and am attaching a memo from Greg to myself stating that no fees were waived for M J Design. However, they did calculate the fees in the warehouse area differently because there was no mechanical or plumbing. This saved approximately $30,000 on M J Design's fees. Also, attached is a copy of our fee assessments for M J Design. There was no waiver of fees and there was a total assessment of $23,852.00 plus the inspection fee. As shown by our development fee status list, M J Design has already paid $16,867.00 in fees and the remainder of fees will be paid by the contractor when he obtains the water meters. The only incentive of any type I could find was an ordinance providing for the exemption from ad valorem taxation of freeport property. Also, the property was designated as a Reinvestment zone by Council. I hope this answers your question of any waiver of fees the City may have allowed in the development of M J Design. In summary, in the Building Inspection area and the Engineering area there was no waiver of fees and in the Council area there was an ordinance to provide exemption from ad valorem taxation and the designation of a Reinvestment zone. If you should have any questions please feel free to contact me.
