RE: Your Letter of September 26, 1988
Dear Mr. Ratliff:
Coppell is a great city, town and/or community. Take your pick. Having spent the last
31 years in Dallas County and having lived in Coppell since 1980 at m.v present residence,
I believe Coppell is a deal.
I respect Coppell immensely. No squabbling over city taxes, purchase locally when
possible, obey local laws, keep my residence darn near perfect, respect my neighbors,
pay my utility bills, attend city council meetings, read the local papers, vote and
promote our city when possible. Not the perfect citizen, but I could be a lot worse.
Two years ago, a neighbor dumped debris in a mutually shared creekbed. A true
eyesore. Now, because of a ten-year old sand and gravel reclamation project, I must
just learn to live with the new view? Mr. Ratliff, my home is valued above $250,000.
My neighbors' homes likewise. The legal dumping of debris in view of my home is a
bit overwhelming.
Please understand I am not blaming or condemning you. Actually, what I need from you
is the date of when Ms. Varonich will have completed her inspection and decided the
remedial action, if any, the city can require of Mr. Phillips.
If the city cannot, as your letter states. ".. the City, could n.~ot practically nor legally
take action", then I guess a formal presentation to the Co~pell City Council is the
next step. Then, as ! was advised by one of your staff, I may need to pursue the
matter via my own legal resources.
And, please note that I did study the Phillips Addition zoning case. As I understand it,
the city asked Mr. Phillips to change the zoning to single family from multi-family.
I appreciate the city doing this -- once again looking after its own. And, because I
concur with the zoning change, my presence was unnecessary.
A short note or telephone message is all I need, Mr. l~atliff, giving me the date that
the city will decide on its' position in this matter.
In appreciation of your time and energy.
Very truly yours,
