COMPREHENSIVE PLAN: The Comprehensive Plan shows the property as suitable for
freeway office use.
DISCUSSION: According to PrimeCo the capacity of the existing tower has been
maximized. Recent technological developments have allowed PrimeCo to
delay the need to construct additional wireless communications towers in
the area by increasing the capacity of an existing tower. This new
technology allows PrimeCo to increase the capacity of a tower by adding
additional equipment to handle the increased volume of wireless
communications traffic. The request is to place two additional metal
equipment cabinets next to an existing cabinet. A 5" concrete equipment
slab will be poured immediately to the northwest of the existing shelter.
The new cabinets will be anchored on the cement pad. Combined, the two
new cabinets measure approximately 4'5" by 3'10", rising above the
ground 5'6". The applicant has indicated the structures will be painted in
gray. The proposed cabinets are approximately one-third the size of the
existing structure. The applicant assures staff that the existing photinia
hedge will remain intact throughout the construction phase.
