The Planning and Zoning Commission recently recommended reclassifying the property adjoining on the southeast as a Planned Development District for a self-storage facility. TRANSPORTATION: The site is 1000 feet from MacArthur Boulevard, a 4 lane divided thoroughfare built in a l l0'-wide right-of-way shown on the thoroughfare plan as a P6D, 6-lane divided thoroughfare. DISCUSSION: The proposed use is secondary to installation already in place within TU Electrie's transmission line right-of-way and is relatively inconspicuous. The antenna will be visible above the electric lines, but no more unsightly than the tower structure itself. The accessory cabinet at the base of the transmission line tower is 8' by 8', rising above the ground only 6'. RECOMMENDATION TO THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION: Staff recommends approval of the Special Use Permit, subject to engineering comments.
