Re: Riverchase Drive Traffic
I am writing to informyou of a problem that. I, alon~-with ottmr clrivem, who live within the
Riverchase community, have experienced on Riverchase Odve during ~ past several mon~s.
The problems seem to stem mostly from cut-throUgh traffic to and from Sandy Lake as Ihey
began about the same time as the installation of the traffic signal at Fairway and Beltline was
complete.
While trying to adhere to the 30 MPH speed limit, it is common to be subjected to all or some
the following forms of harassment from ot~er drivers on a daily basis:
tailgating, honking and cursing
nearly being run off the road
being passed on the curbside of me street
. flashing headlights/high beams in rear view mirror
Measures need to be taken immediately to ensure me safety of the Riverchase community
drivers. My neighbors and I are tired of dealing with this problem every day. We need more
speed limit signs along the road and we also need clearer road markings so drive~s know it is a
one-lane road in each direction. Many drivers use it as a two-lane road in each direction and
I've seen numerous near accidents because of it. Assigning a police officer with radar atong the
road occasionally just isn't enough.
River(;;ha.se Drive has become a very unsafe thoroughfare, i have already been the Victim of
'road rage" too many times to count and I fear that one day someone will end up severely
injured. I also fear for the lives of the many walk,rs, joggem, and golfeFs as it has become
in(~reasingly dangerous to do these activities along this ~'oad.
