Dear Mr. Meyer:
This is in response to your letter dated July 20, 1988, in which you requested
that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) provide a copy of the
preliminary Flood Insurance Study (FIS) and Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM)
for the City of Coppell upon its issuance. The copy was requested in order to
confirm that the Riverchase Reclamation Project, previously known as the
Lesley Tract, was removed from the 100-year floodplain and regulatory floodway.
The Fort Worth Corps of Engineers (COE) restudy of the Elm Fork of the Trinity
River completed in 1986 for the City of Lewisville FIS (Inter-Agency Agreement
No. EMW-E-0941, Project Order No. 1, and Amendments thereto) incorporated the
Riverchase Reclamation Project. The COEs' restudy, which was utilized in the
preparation of the preliminary FIS and FIRM for the City of Coppell, depicts
the aforementioned project outside of the 100-year floodplain and regulatory
floodway of the Elm Fork of the Trinity River. A copy of the preliminary FIS
and FIRM, scheduled to be issued on August 19, 1988, will be forwarded to you
for review and will be subject to a statutory 90-day appeal period and are
therefore subject to change.
Should you have any questions regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to
contact the Chief, Natural and Technological Hazards Division of the Federal
Emergency Management Agency in Denton, Texas, at (817) 898-9127 or members of
our Headquarters staff in Washington, D.C., at (202) 646-2754.
Sincerely,
Chohn L. Matticks
