Dear John,
As we discussed in our phone conversation last Thursday; yes,
I did write a letter asking the TABC to review the Riverchase
applJcat:ion to insure its premises and planned operation met
State Law and City Ordinance. Yes, Dean Wilkerson did request
I write the letter and I was glad to respond.
However, while I consider Dean a special friend, I would have
written the simple letter at the request of most anyone.
In our conversation you stated that 70% of those in Coppell
support the sale of alcohol in Coppell. That may be so, but
I do not believe you intended to imply, nor do I believe a
majority o£ your constituents support, selective enforcement
or ]ack of enforcement of state law or local ordinance. Nor
do I believe they support selective non-enforcement based on
who is involved.
Nor do I believe a majority of your constituents - Catholic,
Baptist, or other want a wide-open town without restrictions.
Regardless, the obvious solution to having laws with which one
disagrees is to attempt to change the law.
I'm no crusader in the area of wet vs. dry. However you and
1, and the other members of your council, have taken an oath
to support the laws of this state. I believe my actions have
been consistent with that oath.

If there is a perceived problem, I'll be glad to meet with any
group, including the Coppell City Council, to discuss my views
and my actions. As always, I'm available.
Sincerely,
dsm ,Jackson
