TITLE: Director of Engineering/Public Works
STAFF COMMENTS:
On February 13, 2001, the City of Coppell received and opened six bids for our yearly sidewalk program. The low
bidder on the project was Quantum Contracting, Inc. for a unit price of $4.95 per square foot and total price of
$72,314.55. The total sidewalk list included 106 different locations ranging in size from 12 square feet to 370 square
feet. The last time the City of Coppell bid the sidewalk repair program was in 1997. The low bidder at that time was
Abcon Paving Inc. Our yearly sidewalk program has a yearly roll over clause in the contract that allows the city to
extend the bid for a period of three consecutive years. Therefore, the City was required to rebid the sidewalk
replacement program this year. Abcon Paving did bid again however they were not the low bidder.
Quantum Contracting, Inc .has not worked in this area. They are generally based in the Rockwall area. I have checked
their references and they appear to be an excellent contractor capable of handling this project. Therefore, staff
recommends the approval of Bid #Q-0101-03 for sidewalk repair at various locations to Quantum Contracting, Inc. in
an amount of $4.95/per square foot for a total price of $72,314.55.
Staffwill be available to answer any questions at the Council.meeting.
