Coppell, TX 75019 Re: Sandy Lake Crossing Left-Turn Lane Dear Mr. Doyle: We have reviewed the above referenced item as requested and offer the following comments. It appears the proposed left-turn layout may work. The effectiveness and safety features of this innovative design would need to be monitored by the City staff should it be allowed to be installed. A variance to the Sub-Division Ordinance is still required. If it is considered, we would recommend that the Council. make it clear to the applicant of the City's option to close and disallow this left-turn lane after it is installed should safety and/or traffic flow exhibit the need to do so. Also, we recommend that the City remain independent from this request by requiring the developer to fund and construct this left-turn lane themselves for liability purposes rather than as a part of the Denton Tap Road Improvements project.
