RE= Food Lion Traffic Control Plan - Sandy Lake Road
Shohre, I wanted to follow-up concerning our meeting with the Food
Lion representative on 5/28/91. I still have a concern about the
east bound traffic and how it relates to the vehicle storage from
this entrance to the intersection of Moore Road. After
considerable thought I feel that the City needs to insure the
overall safety of the public as well as consider the operation and
maintenance associated with all new development. If we don't have
the contractor implement a turn lane into the shopping center then
we need to have him build a by-pass lane on the south side of Sandy
Lake, traveling east. My concern is that if people have to sit and
wait for a left turn vehicle, they will by-pass on the right and
create a continuous maintenance problem along this shoulder and
ultimately force the City into providing such a passage. I am
willing to discuss the possibility of monitoring the situation
after the store opens and having the developer agree on placing
this by-pass at the time that traffic deems it necessary up to
thirty-six (36) months beyond the stores opening date.
If you have any questions concerning this matter please contact me.
