RE: Coppell Elementary School
Paving Base
Dear Mr. Moore:
We have reviewed the PI ratings of the fill material that is on site in
the area of parking and drives, with Mr. Ed Powell, City Engineer.
As previously discussed, the P! rating ranges in depth from approximately
3' around the faculty and service drives down to existing geade, as it
reaches Moore Road.
In our discussions with Mr. Powell, he requested that in lieu of removing
all of the unqualified material, a uniform depth of 12" be removed through-
out and the proper select fill of 15 PI or less be put in place. This
would be acceptable to the City of Coppell.
However, submission of moisture and density of tests will need to occur
after the replacement of the proper select fill.
I have discussed this remedial procedure with Randy Fleming of Gann &
Associates and Mr. Steve Morton with the City of Coppell. Mr. Morton
felt that the liming procedure should be left up to you as the general
contractor as an alternate for the removal of the high PI fill materials
and the replacement of 12" select fill.
Mr. Morton also indicated that he would still like to see a letter of
recommendation from Alpha Testing. It is my understanding that Mr.
Mobley had previously indicated this would be provided by Alpha.
Should you have any additional questions regarding this matter, please
call.
Very truly yours,
SHWC, Inc.
