Remarks: On this date, a representative of Fugro South, Inc. was present on the above mentioned project
to perform the following tests and observations as requested:
In-place densities were performed at various depths below grade on backfill placed behind the retaining walls.
Several retaining walls were tested. The dry density results show that the backfill has consistently Iow dry
density and compaction throughout the area regardless of which type of soils were encountered. Results of
these tests are attached. Also, it was noted that voids were present at various locations in the center of the
walls.
The walls have open 2-3 inch pvc drain pipes exposed on the vertical side and extend into the backfill. No
gravel, or filter fabric was noted behind the wall.
