Drainage Improvements
Dear Mr. Ginn:
We have been under construction for some time now on the
public drainage improvements on the above referenced project.
Included in the improvements is the construction of the 10x8
box culvert along the east line of the school's property.
Construction on this box culvert is nearing completion and
should be completed in approximately 10 days.
One of the items which is yet to be constructed is a concrete
headwall at the south end of the proposed 10x8 box culvert
(which presently terminates at the school's south property
line). It is our understanding that plans have been approved
and a letter of credit has been provided to the City for the
future extension of this box culvert to the south. I have
spoken to Gabe Favre in your office as to whether or not it is
necessary to construct the proposed concrete headwall at the
south property line. We have also spoken with Jim Coch of
Powell & Powell Engineers regarding their thoughts concerning
the construction of this headwall in light of the planned
extension. He concurred with our opinion that, if extension
of this box culvert is going to take place within the next
year, it would be wasteful and somewhat shortsighted to
construct an expensive headwall that would be removed in the
near future when the box is extended to the south.
Therefore, as recommended by Gabe Favre, we are writing this
letter to request that consideration be given to the deletion
of the concrete headwall presently shown on the plans and that

the concrete transition as shown on the plans be constructed
to allow for a temporary transition into the box culvert.
Due to the fact that the contractor is nearing completion of
the box culvert, we would appreciate an expeditious response
to this request. Should you need any additional information
