RE: CMAQ Project 10 Construction Plan Review Comments
The City of Coppell Engineering Department has reviewed the referenced construction
plans and offers the following comments:
1. On Sheet 25, Work Sequence #1, "Adjust Utilities (By Others)", needs to include
identification of "Others" and specify which "Utilites"; City Utility relocations need to
be included in the construction of the lane.
2. The legend for the Intersection Layout Sheets needs to clarify that the paving section
will be concrete on an asphalt base. The City recommends using the City Standard
paving section which is reinforced concrete paving on 6" lime-stabilized base.
3. On Sheet 28, a Type 4 retaining wall is not acceptable from an aesthetics standpoint.
Consider using a "Keystone" or "Pavestone" gravity wall.
4. Note 4 of Sheet 30 needs to include who will relocate the railroad signal for the project.
This should be included in the construction of the lane.
5. Sheet 18, Section A-A does not seem accurate compared to plan view. Can the right
thru-lane actually be maintained at 3.2 m during construction?
6. Note #5 on Sheet 24 needs clarification of meaning.
7. General Note: This project should stand on its own in terms of utility relocations, etc.
The City will not be responsible for relocating conflicting utilities.
