Re: Drainage at Pinkerton Elementary
Dear Shohre:
Ayres Associates has been the consultant for the Coppell Independent School District for the Pinkerton
Elementary School located in the City of Coppell. Due to the concern for drainage problems as
outlined in a report by Albert Halff that exist in this area, we have met with the City staff in order to
help provide a solution to a portion of these concerns.
Our construction plans have provided a drainage swale along the rear of the homes located on Howell
Street as recommended in the report. We have also extended this swale on school property adjacent to
the railroad. This swale drains to the west and can be utilized to accept drainage from Howell Street
and along a new drainage swale that could be constructed adjacent to the railroad tracts. These
improvements should help the drainage problems for the homes along Howell Street.
If the remaining improvements are made by the City of Coppell as outlined in our mark-up exhibit then
the recommendations of the Halff report would be accomplished.
Ayres Associates understands the concern of the homeowners in this area and has worked with all
parties to incorporate these items into our project. We have also coordinated our site drainage with the
engineer for Southwestern Boulevard and have designed the drainage system accordingly.
In addition to the above drainage considerations, it has been requested that we add a utility easement
for the water line. We will add a twenty (20) foot utility easement to the plat for this purpose.
