Attached, please find a letter I received from Robinson Electrical
and Mechanical Inc. requesting approval/verification of materials
to be installed on this project. I have reviewed these documents
and find that some of these items do not meet the City's standard.
Please review and advise the project engineer.
If you have any questions please advise.

Re: Coppell ~ementary ~5
Coppell Road
Dear Hoard,
Please check over the attached submittal data and make s~e
everything meets the City's requirements. If you have any
printed specifications as far as embedments etc., I wo~d
appreciate a copy of those. Please take a moment to answer
a few other questions as well.
Will you make periodic, random inspections that w~l allow us
to cover the work as we go, or must we complete in sections
and c~l for a specific inspection of the whole thing?
My ~derstanding was that you wanted the 3" meter, its bypass,
and the 3" double check valve all in one vault, and the vast
submitted is sized accordingly. Is this correct?
I have been told, tho I have nothing in ~iting yet, that we
c~ make the 3" tap for the domestic water off of the
fire l~e loop that we will be installing, rather than out
at the street as originally sho~. Obviously, this makes much
better sense than a third bore ~der Coppell Road to hook to
the same size line as is already available near the needed
location, but we wanted to verify that this is OK with you,be-
fore we order materi~s accordingly. Is this acceptable?
The jobs mechanical engineer has already given his verb~ 0K.
Th~k you for your time and your help.
Sincerely, ~ ,
Karol~n Robinson

the gasket's sealing capabilities and the ease of proper

Values of allowable internal working pressure for copper tube in service are based on the formula from ANSI B31, Standard
Code for Pressure Piping:
P : Allowable pressure ~ 150°F S = 5100 PSI annealed
2 Str,, S = Allowable stress ~ 200°F S = 4800 PSI annealed
P =
D - 0.8 t,~ tm = Wall thickness ~ 3000F S = 4700 PSI annealed
D = Diameter ~ 400°F S = 3000 PSI annealed
~11 ratings listed for types K, L, M, DWV and refrigeration service tube in the preceding charts are calculated for tube in the
.,healed condition. These values should be used when soldering, brazing or welding is employed for joining components in
a system. While the ratings for hard drawn tube are substantially higher, they should only be used for systems using properly
designed flare or compression mechanical joints, since joining by any heating process might anneal (soften) the tube.
In designing a system, careful consideration should also be given to joint ratings as well as those of the components.

NOTE: Ratings are those given in ANSI Standard B16.22 "Wrought Copper and Copper Alloy Solder Joint Pressure F~tt/ngs" and ANSI B16.18
"Casting Copper Alloy Solder Joint Pressure Fittings."
(a) Solder alloys are covered by ASTM Standard Specif, cation B32.
(b) Rating internal pressure is that of tube or fittings being joined (whichever is less).

Uecha~ical joim tapping sleeves are designed for use
with either Centrifugally c~t or p~ ~st pipe and are al~
available for ~besto~cement (AC) pipe.
Our sleeves feature full length, heavy du~y c~t iron con-
stru~ion for maximum rigidity. No sho~ cu~ are taken
in the design and manufa~uring process ~suring the
most reliable tap possible. A te~ plug is provided with
each sleeve ~ t~at the ~lve and sle~e may be p~essure
tested before the tap is made.
Series 800A sleeves for ~besto~Cement (AC) pipe are
available in 4 x 4 thru 12 x 12 inch sizes.
Series 800C sleeves for cast iron size pipe are available

The Series 300 double disc gate valves and the Series
500 Resilient Wedge gate valves are available with end
connections for use as tapping valves. Both end connec-
tiOns are machined to ensure proper alignment between
the tapping machine and tapping sleeve and a test plug
is provided with each valve to permit pressure testing
thereby assuring a successful tap. The piloted flange con-
nection between the tapping sleeve and tapping valve
is in accordance with Manufacturer's Standardization
Society Standard Practice SP-60.

"11 ratings listed for types K, L, M, DWV and refrigeration service tube in the preceding charts are calculated for tube in the
,healed condition.
