REVIEW:~ CITY MANAGER REVIEW: Agenthi Request Form - Revised 6/96 To: From: RE: Date: MEMORANDUM Mayor and City Council Michael A. Martin, E.I.T., Asst. City Engineer Da!Is County Agreement Coppell Middle School West parklng lot pavlng January 2, 1997 For the past few months, the City has been discussing with Mike Sharp, Superintendent for District 1 Road and Bridge Division, the cost of paving the Coppell Middle School West parking and roadway facilities that serves both the Coppert Independent School District (CISD), the Coppell Baseball Association and the Coppell Football Association. An estimate was provided to the City of $62,787.45. Attached is an exhibit and cost estimate worksheet showing the location and phases of the paving jobs. The project includes all the existing roadways leading to all the fields, the large parking lot adjacent to Field 1, the bus parking area and the pull in parking area adjacent to the baseball fields. CISD's contribution would be approximately $30,946.68 for the cost to pave the bus parking area and Phase I on the roadway. The remaining cost of $31,840.77, which includes Phases II through VI, would be the City's responsibility. These are the phases that provide access and parking for the Coppell Baseball Association and the Coppell Football Association. The material to be used is rejuvenated asphalt. Rejuvenated asphalt is reclaimed asphalt rolled in place with an asphalt rejuvenating agent applied to bond the asphalt. This material is a lower grade of asphalt than used on the Andrew Brown West parking lot. The material has been used successfully by Dallas County on a parking facility in downtown Dallas across from the h'ank Crowley Justice Center. That parking lot has been in place for 3 years and is in relatively good condition. Dallas County can perform the work on their off days which are Friday, Saturday and possibly Sunday, barring any bad weather. The paving job will take approximately 12 working days, which equates to approximately six weekends. Staff recommends the approval of the City/County agreement in the amount of $62,787.45 and authorizing the Mayor to sign. ~STIMATE WEST PAILK Coppell Middle School City of Coppell Phase 1 950'X24'/9 ~ 2,53'3.33 SY X S2~85/8Y -- $7,219.99 Phase II 1400' X 24' / 9 -, 3,733.33 SY X $2.85/SY ,- $10,639.99 Phase Ill 350'X65'/9 = 2,527.77 SY X $2.85/SY - $7.204.14 Phase IV 550'X 14'/9 = 855.55 SY X $2.85/SY --- $2,438.32 Phase V 700' X 38' / 9 - 2,955.55 SY X $2.85/SY - $8,423.32 Phase VI 300'X33'/9., TOTAL i,I00.00 SY X $2.85/SY - ~ ~{ 1~7~5',3'5 %t 139,060.76 NOTE: lhul cost for 150 CY of RAP included in Phase VI, which must be done first.
