Stonemeade-CS 930127The City With A Beautiful Future P.O. Box 478 Coppell, Texas 75019 214-462-0022 January 27, 1993 Mr. Derek Earle, P.E. Centex Real Estate Corporation North Area Division 1660 S. Stemmons Freeway, Suite 150 Lewisville, TX 75067 RE: Stonemeade Estates Dear Derek: I have received and reviewed the report from Maxim Engineering, Inc. concerning the lime series test results for Stonemeade Estates. Based on those test results, Maxim is recommending that 5 % lime by dry weight be used to stabilize the subgrade soils. They also state that in some areas of the subdivision, lime is not required to reduce the plasticity of the soil. To insure that there is no misunderstanding on this project when the contractor is ready to stabilize the soil, please be advised that the City of Coppell will be requiring the following stabilization on this project. The lime should be installed at a minimum of 6% lime by dry weight. The additional percentage is requested to compensate for any spillage or overmixing of the soil during the processing. Obviously, under ideal lab conditions, exactly 5% can be added to the soil to lower the plasticity of the soil. Under actual field conditions, it is much more difficult to add exactly 5 % to the soil. In areas where lime is not required to lower the plasticity, the City will be requiring that a minimum 6% cement be added to stabilize the subgrade. If you should have any questions concerning this issue, please feel free to contact me at your convenience. Sincerely, Kedneth M. Griffm, P.E.
