Re: Pavement Subgrade Preparation
STONELEIGH AT RIVERCHASE
Coppell, Texas ~leeva,~ ~ e~
ALPHA Report No. 97060-1 ~"~ ~ql,t,~l~qC,~,
Based upon the Geotechnical Exploration performed at the above referenced site (re: ~"~
ALPHA Report No. 97060 dated February 12, 1997), it is our opinion mechanical lime ~'t$~'1
stabilization of the pavement subgrade in parking and drive areas would not be required
considering the concrete pavement thickness is 6 inches. Rather, the pavement
subgrade should be scarified to a depth of at least 6 inches and re-compacted to at least
95 % of standard Proctor maximum dry density (ASTM D 698) and within the range of
I percent below to 2 percentage points above the material's optimum moisture content.
Therefore, on behalf of the Owner, we request a variance allowing the elimination of
mechanical lime stabilization below concrete pavement (6 inches thick) in parking and
drive areas.
We appreciate your attention to this matter. If we need to provide any additional
information, please contact our office.
Sincerely yours,
ALPHA TESTING, INC.
