The City Council of the City of Coppell, Texas met in regular session at
7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 31, 1989, in the Council Chambers of the
Town Center, 255 Parkway Boulevard, Coppell, Texas. Those members
present are as follows:
Hark Wolfe, Mayor
David M. Thomas, Councilman
Tom Morton, Councilman
Bill Smothermon, Councilman
Jim Cowman, Councilman
Ron Robertson, Councilman
John A. Nelson, Councilman
Mayor Pro Tem Dean Wilkerson was absent from the meetinE. Also present
were Deputy City Manager/Finance Director Frank Trando, City Attorney
Larry Jackson and Assistant City Secretary Linda Grau.
Mayor Wolfe called the meeting to order and asked everyone to stand
while Councilman Nelson gave the invocation. Following the invocation
Mayor Wolfe led those present in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Item 3: Consideration and authorization of execution of adoption of
guidelines and criteria for tax abatement agreement.
City Attorney presented this item to the Council and informed them that
it would take six (6) affirmative votes by the City Council to approve
the above stipulated item. Councilman Morton moved to approve
Resolution No. 083189.1 adopting guidelines and criteria for a tax
abatement agreement and authorizing the Mayor to sign. Councilman
Robertson seconded the motion; motion carried 6-0 with Councilmen
Thomas, Morton, Smothermon, Cowman, Robertson and Nelson voting in favor
of the motion.
Item 4:
Consideration and authorization of execution of Tax Abatement
#1 between the City o£ Coppell and the Baptist Foundation of
Texas.
City Attorney again informed the City Council that it would take six (6)
affirmative votes by the Council to approve the above stipulated item.
Councilman Smothermon moved to approve Resolution No. 083189.2 Tax
Abatemeut tl between the City o£ Coppell and the Baptist Foundation of
Texas and authorizing the Mayor to sign. Councilman Cowman seconded the
motion; motion carried 6-0 with Councilman Thomas, Morton, Smothermon,
Cowman, Robertson and Nelson voting in favor of the motion.
There being no further business to come before the Council the meeting
was adjourned.
