RE: 8.U.P.. Request for Driving Flange, 635 at Ifoltllne Road
This letter discusses the fire hydrant question on the above referenced project.
I have disouseed with Chief Clay Philips the oor~erns of the Gily and he understands the
position we are taking would assist In preventing a fire In the building on site as proposed. He is still
looking for a fire hydrant near the buicllng but Instead we have proposed the following Iten~ to be
Included tn the buicling plans. These Items would be an adclltion to our request fro the S.U.P. above.
1. The enllre building would be sprinkled for fire prevention. This would be s heat triggered
system. That is easily Installed and at the first sign M heat even I the building is not occupied at the
time the srMnklers are activated and the fire is put out. This system wou~d begin working as soon as a
phone call could be made to the fire department. We think this system would extinguish the fire prior
to the fire department arrival. We understand that the trucks carry 300 gallons on them and this would
assist In stopping the fire of any vehlcal on site.
2. The bulMIng has two doors. The size of the building would require only one door for fire
escape but we have Included two doors. This would assist any persons easy aocess out of the
bulUing dur~g a f~e.
3. The carpets would be fire retardant fibers.
4. The roof would be ~ ratardant roof mater~ls.
5. The briok finish on the bul~lng is over 100 percem of the vertioat sides of the building
and ~ould not catch fire.
6. The doors would be metal and be fire proof.
7. The Interior walls would have metal studs which are fire proof. Wl~h sheet rock double
These Items assist end greatly lnhart~ the Public, Health and Slaty Issue that CIties must be
aware off. We feel this will be avmy safe building and that the term of five years limits the isnght the
building would be without a fire hydrant.
