RE: Sandy Lake Road (Kimbel Kourt to East City Limits) ST 93-01
Dear Mr. Hatcher:
Dallas County Public Works is designing construction plans for Sandy Lake Road, from
east of Kimbel Kourt to immediately west of the City of Coppell / City of Dallas Line.
Coppell is currently acquiring the fight-of-way and will manage construction of the
project. Plans should be complete by the end of this year and it is anticipated that
construction will start in early 2002.
The work will consist of the reconstruction of the existing two-lane asphalt road to a
four-lane divided boulevard with improved drainage. The centerline elevation of the
existing road is being raised approximately five feet, which will result in 68,600-~-_ cubic
yards of embankment being placed within the right-of-way and adjoining slope
easements. The August 23, 2001 FIRM map indicates that a portion of this embankment
will be placed within the limits of the 100-year flood. The 100-year flood elevation in
this area is 447.00.
Enclosed is a set of half-scale plans for the project. Please review these plans with regard
to Section 404 of the Clean Water Act and make a determination as to the need for a
