Comments and Verification - Project 10
Dear Mr. Young:
John Wallak from TXU has been in the process of relocating the light poles on the
grass median on MacArthur at Beltline. He has relocated the light pole near STA.
9+925 to the East near the existing curbline. He wants to know if the light pole near
STA. 9+865 actually needs to be relocated as stated on plans because it looks like it is
clearly out of the construction area? TxDOT requires that all streetlight poles be a
minimum of three feet from the curb face to the edge of the pole. TXU is willing to do
whatever is necessary but wants clarification regarding this matter. In addition TXU
has agreed to move the street light undergound if necessary. TXU has taken upon
themselves the necessary costs regarding the relocation of the light poles and new
foundations including the possible relocation of the undergound.
In light of this matter the PM/E has reviewed sheets 24 and 25 for this project and there
are some necessary changes. Note 7 should say, "'Street lights and foundations will
be relocated by TXU". Note 8 should say, "The construction of the street light
underground and foundations shall be done by TXU". The two street light locations
should say, "Relocate light pole by others (TXU)". Please revise your estimate and
quantity sheets regarding these changes.
We are not sure if you properly addressed the comment for item 9 (B) for sheet 24 of
the Submittal 2m Final Review dated 6/28/01 regarding the possibility of a conflict with
the irrigations lines during construction. You should add a note to your plans regarding
this matter indicating that any work associated with the irrigation system will be
subsidiary to the costs of this project and the contactor's responsibility.
We have been out to this site and noticed that there are brick pavers at that North end
of the grass median which are not shown on the plans. Looks like the new Type II curb
that matches into the existing near STA 9+863 is in conflict with those brick pavers and
if so then you need to address this on the plans including any changes to the Estimate
and Quantities. There are two small signs on the median near STA. 9+870 that are not
addressed on the plans.
Please respond to this office no later than October 30, 2001 with the necessary
changes. We hope the Signal Plans and Mylars will be supplied at that time. If you feel
that some comments need further discussion, notify this office immediately upon
receipt.

B. There is a note that states "adjust various sprinkler
heads and valves". The note should be expanded to
include "irrigation lines". It is quite possible that cutting
into the median will expose the irrigation line and it may
need to be rerouted to avoid conflict. Also, it needs to be
very clear that any work associated with the irrigation
system will be subsidiary to the cost of this project and
the contractor's responsibility
