Thompson, Johnny-CS 900323 ~CON$IJLTING 'ENGINE~IS, INC. Mr. Johnny Thompson P.O. Box 1236 Ooppell, Texas 75019 Re: Elm Fork Property NDM No.: 89-03-037 Dear Johnny: I am writing this letter to discuss some of the floodplain issues that relate to your property on the Elm Fork of the Trinity River in Coppell. The floodplain line we showed on the topographic survey of your prope~y is consistent with the most current 100-year water surface elevations from FEMA. This is from their analyisis based on the existing discharge and cross sections. If the cross sectidns used in this study reflected the topography as it exists today on your property, any new fill or improvements put behind that line would have no effect on a flood of magnitude equal to or less than what was contemplated in the FEMA study. However, a flood of greater magnitude would result in a higher water surface elevation. This would increase the floodplain width. Any improvements or fill within this widened floodplain would become an encroachment and raise the water surface elevation for that particular flood event. I hope this is helpful to you. If you have any questions, please let us know. Sincerely, NATHAN D. MAIER CONSUI.,TII~ ENGINEERS, INC. Mike Daniel, P.E. CMD/rdp Three NorthPark/8800 N.
