MEMORANDUM
DATE: February 20, 1989
TO: Alan Ratliff, City Manager
FROM: Russell Do~~ E., City Engineer
SUBJECT: JOHNNY THOMPSON'S REQUEST (ATTACHED)
Transmitted herewith is a recommended letter for you to sign in response
to Mr. Johhny Thompson's January 17, 1989 letter, (ATTACHED). You could
choose to delete paragraphs 5, 6, 7 and 8 if you care not to deal with
those specifics at this time.
Attached for your information is a response from Wayne Ginn on the
matter. The content of the attached proposed letter is self-explanatory.
There appears to have been a co~u,~nication mix up. The County, in my
conversation with Bud Beene, Project Engineer, on Friday, February 17,
1989 indicated that during various public forums, Mr. Thompson discussed
access to and from his driveway in both directions, but a left "turn-out"
lane was never requested. As can be seen on the xerox copy of %he
contract plans attached to the proposed letter, the county did provide the
curb-turnout (drive-way) to match Thompson's drive. The county has
checked with the railroad about whether Thompson has received
authorization for access across the Railroad right-of-way, but have no
documents on file.
Please let me know if you need any more information.
