Re: Left Turn Lane/Johnny Thompson Tract
Dear Mr. Doyle:
In response to your memo of February 2, 1989, I do not know why
a left turn lane was not provided for the Johnny Thompson Tract.
The engineering firm of Albert Halff designed this section of
roadway for Dallas County. Albert Halff and Dallas County made
the decision regarding this design.
Mr. Thompson called last week regarding this matter. I advised
him to contact Bud Beene with Dallas County to resolve this issue.
I did indicate that I did not think there was enough traffic to
warrant a left turn lane. This statement was without benefit of
traffic counts. However, after talking to Johnny Thompson, who
states that there are 5 businesses including a concrete plant to
be served, maybe the issue needs to be looked into further. A
left turn lane may be needed for safety reasons more than for
traffic volume.
If you would like for us to look into this matter further, please
advise.
