Dear Sir:
It has recently come to my attention that the 2" water line that services the Lone Star Country Club has
been damaged during the construction of the public improvements for this project. You may recall that
the possibility of damage to this water line was discussed not only in the review letters but also in the
preconstruction meeting and in the field. You may also recall that during a meeting in my office there
was some discussion about the logistics of constructing the public improvements with the 2" water line
in place and that some consideration should be given to laying a parallel water line during construction.
The owner of the Lone Star Country Club has expressed concern that when his water line is broken it
could cause contamination of the water to the bar and the ice machines.
There seems to be some confusion about whose responsibility it is for the repair of the 2" water line.
Please make no mistake that this is damage during the course of construction and any repairs to the water
line and any resulting damages because of the breakage are the responsibility of the contractor on the
project. The plans very clearly state that there is an existing 2" water line in this vicinity and that it shall
remain during the construction of the 12" water line.
Because of the concern of the property owner of the Lone Star Country Club, there should be some
consideration given to either locating the 2" water line so as not to damage it during construction or
installing a temporary water line during the course of the construction.
