FUGRO PROJECT NO. 0701-2233
SUMMARY OF WATER INJECTION TEST RESULTS
~,.~ t'~~al~l~ sERvICE CENTER
COPPELL, TEXAS
Dear Mr. Harper:
As required by the specifications, we have performed a sampling and testing program for the
new service center under construction in Coppell, Texas. Fugro South had a field technician
perform periodic inspections during the injection process.
On October 3, 2001 the contractor completed injection operations consisting of two passes as
recommended by our engineering staff. We then mobilized to the site and completed the
sampling October 5, 2001. Laboratory testing began the following day and the results showed
the building pad had received adequate injection. This information was relayed via telephone to
the contractor's field representative, Mr. Rick McKinney.
This report presents the results of the water injection sampling and testing program. Ten
borings were continuously sampled to depths of approximately 10-feet, the planned total water
injection depth. The locations of all test borings were performed at the approximate locations
shown on the Plan of Borings included as Plate A. Samples of the injected subgrade soils were
obtained with thin-walled tube samplers pushed into the ground by an all terrain vehicle
mounted drilling rig. The samples were extruded from the tubes, placed in plastic bags, sealed,
marked and transported to our laboratory where moisture content and free swell tests were
performed. The results of the laboratory tests are presented on the attached tables.
The criteria for swell potential of the injected soils were a minimum of two free swell tests per
boring. The goal is to achieve a two percent maximum swell and an average swell of about one
percent or less. The moisture content and pocket penetrometer readings on soil samples
provide supplemental data for the engineer to further judge the adequacy of water injection.
Based on the results of our field sampling and testing program, it is our opinion that the site soils
have been adequately injected in accordance with the project plans, specifications and our
geotechnical report.
