RE: Sandy Lake Road (Kimbel Kourt to East City Limits)
ST 93-01
Cultural Resource Survey
Dear Mr. Skinner:
Dallas County Public Works is designing construction plans for Sandy Lake Road, from
east of Kimbel Kourt to immediately west of the City of Coppell / City of Dallas Line.
Coppell is cun'ently acquiring the right-of-way and will manage construction of the
project. The project will affect an area larger than five acres and the City recently
submitted a set of plans to the Texas Historical Commission (THC) for review as
required by the Texas Antiquities Code. The THC is requiring the proposed project area
to be surveyed by a professional archeologist prior to site development.
The project is located in the Carrollton Quadrangle and will consist of the reconstruction
of the existing two-lane asphalt road to a four-lane divided boulevard with improved
drainage. The centerline elevation of the existing road is being raised approximately five
feet, which will result in 68,600+ cubic yards of embankment being placed within the
right-of-way and adjoining slope easements. Enclosed is a copy of the letter from the
THC that defines the type of cultural resource survey required and a set of half-size plans.
Please submit a proposal for the surveying services. The City will provide backhoe
services for any required excavation.
Your consideration of this matter is appreciated. Should you have any questions or need
any additional information, please contact me at 972-304-7019.
Sincerely,
Suza~ ~ Taylor
