GTE Site Accessibility Concerns
Dear Ken:
!i, qc~ Fnclosed find 3 copies of a sketch, indicating concerns about Gl[ employees' safe
access to and from the project, in relation to traffic flow and control along Highway 121.
Five areas have been addressed, with suggested solutions for each condition. These
include:
Elimination of the "Stop" sign at Freeport Parkway intersection with Hwy. 121
northbound service road to reduce traffic "stacking" into actual highway
intersection when making a turn at this crossing,
Addition of "One Way" and "Do Not Enter" and/or "Wrong Way" signage on
Hwy. 121 northbound service road at intersection with Canyon Drive to
prevent accidental left turn onto service road,
Creation of a deceleration/right-turn lane at the crossing between the Freeport
Parkway and Sandy Lake Road intersections with Hwy. 121 (Similar to the
condition at Freeport Parkway), to enable this crossing to be better used for
access to the service road and reduce turning traffic volume from the Freeport
Parkway and Coppell Road intersections,
o
Addition or re-painting of existing acceleration/deceleration lane striping at
Coppell Road and Freeport Parkway intersections with HWY. 121, to better
delineate and define the merge/turn lanes from the main Hwy. 121 through-
traffic,

I discussed these concerns with you a few weeks ago, and at that time you advised that
most of these requests seemed reasonable. Please review these concerns with TxDot
and advise us of their position at your earliest convenience. The final groups of
employees will be occupying the building within the next few weeks therefore, GTE is
anxious to resolve these issues. Thank you for your assistance in this matter. Should
you have any questions or require additional information, please call.
Sincerely,
I~1~ 'Berge~
