Dear Mr. Caudill:
Enclosed are five (5) copies of Change Order No. 1 for the referenced project for your review,
approval and execution. Also enclosed are revised plan sheets which reflect the proposed changes
to the scope of work. In general, the changes relate to the City's decision to relocate the existing
12-inch water line on the south side of the new roadway from Sta. 8+14.73 to Sta. 17+95, save and
except a small section of existing water line near the master water meter vault for the school at
approximately Sta. 14+35.
In accordance with your letter to the City dated October 7, 1998, regarding the proposed water line
relocation work, the amount for Change Order No. I has been calculated based upon an estimate
of the increase in the quantities of work to be accomplished, and the unit prices set forth in the
contract. The total increase to the contract for Change Order No. 1 is, therefore, $46,794.00,
making the revised contract amount $1,697,302.15. No change to the contract time has been
made since the additional work added by this change order can be performed and completed
concurrently with the remaining work on the project and, therefore, does not adversely impact the
critical path for overall completion.
Consideration and approval of the subject change order is being placed on the agenda for the next
Coppell City Council meeting. Therefore, please return all five (5) executed copies of Change
Order No. 1 to Michael Martin at the City of Coppell at your earliest convenience, but no later than
Wednesday, January 20, 1999. In the meantime, should you have any questions, please do not
hesitate to give me a call.
