Please refer to your correspondence, as we will address each issue as you presented it. The description Ibr the pay item "Is-13 Fife Hydxant Assembly and 8" Gate Valve" specifically states that it is to include ... "life hydrant and short 6" nipple between the valve and hydrant." Thc pay itcm includcs for measurement and payment "... the fire hydrant assembly, including gate valves, complete in place., ." Sheet SD16, Fire Hydrant Installation Detail, appears to reference a fire hydrant assembly as the hydrant. vertical extension, 90 dee bend, concrete blocking, gravel pocket and lead to the gate valvc. Nowhere in the hydratit details does it make reference to the fitting on the water main, or for that matter, the lead to the gate valve. The description of Is-7, Ductile Iron Fittings, begins with the phrase "Water line fittings..," indicating fittings placeA on the main are to be cover©d by thin item. Th6 toe on the main to the hydrant is clearly installed on the main and is not covered by the Fire Hydrant Item. Please reinstate measurement arid payment for these items, as attached. We included some fittings that, acc, oMing to your interpretation, are to be included with the pay item(s) Is-16, 17, 18, and 19. Each of the connections to existing lines oct:un, per the plans, with a gate valve. The cross, bends, plugs, etc., actually are installed on the new 12" main when it is installed, and are therefore a component of the new main, not the connection. The actual cormcction occurs later when a stub line of approximately 20 feet in length is run over and connected to the existing gate valve. In addition to our previous request. we are submitting additional fittings that were originally discounted as being subsidiary to this item. 'ilqis is an additional 1.524 tons. As you have acknowledged that you will include them, we will expect you to include them for the balance of the fittings upon resolution of the two earlier-discussed issues. Please initiatc a change order to cover payment for these firings. R should total 10.568 additional tons ~ $3,600.00 / ton, or $38,044.80. We will reiterate our request ibr additional time.
