Vista Ridge 1st P-CS 921027October 27, 1992 The City With A BeautifUl Future P.O. Box 478 Coppell, Texas 75019 214-462-0022 Mr. Phil Deaton Carter & Burgess 7950 Elmbrook Drive, Suite 250 Dallas, TX 75247 RE: Construction Plans for Utility Improvements South of S.H. 121 Dear Mr. Deaton: The City of Coppell has received and reviewed plans for the referenced improvements and have the following comments to offer: 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) 6) 7) 8) 9) lO) Existing fire hydrant pumper nozzles should be changed to 4 1/2" Plan and profile should be provided for all water mains larger than 10". Air relief valves should be provided on the proposed 12" water main. Provide main line and fire hydrant valves every 600 feet. The force main should be ductile iron pipe. All water mains should be C-900 PVC. Ali sewer mains should SDR-35 PVC. If any existing water mains located in Lewisville are to be provided to Coppell, easements must be granted. Staff perfers that all sanitary sewers flow into the proposed MacArthur lift station. Use City of Coppell details as adoped May 12, 1992 by the City Council. Notice the comments on the site plan about this layout not being consistent with our Master Plan. There are concerns about the siphon not being consistent with the Master Plan and about the proposed location of the 18" sewer line being inconsistent with the Master Plan. Also, the proposed location of the 18" sanitary sewer is in conflict with the future 33" Denton Creek Trunk Main, as shown on our Master Plan. Also, notice the other comments on the site plan that refer to cleanouts, tie-ins, plugs, etc. Please comment why the 18" sanitary sewer is proposed to be RCP. Also, if it remains RCP, you should specify the exact type of RCP it is. Letter to Mr. Phil Deaton October 27, 1992 Page 2 ll) 12) 15) 16) On Line D, around Station 30+00, you should inspect the existing 18" sanitary sewer for possible damage and be prepared to make any repairs. You will need Texas Department of Transportation approval for any work in the future S.H. 121 right-of-way. Also, the section of sewer line in S.H. 121 is not in the City of Coppell. It appears as though some approval may need to be granted from Lewisville for this section. On Line H of the 12" water line, notice the comment about the additional water valve. On Line I, there is a comment about a future 16" water line by others in the general vicinity of the future bridge over Denton Creek. Who will construct this line and when will it be constructed? Without this line to loop the system, all land south of S.H. 121 will only have a single water feed from MacArthur. Also, notice the comment about looping the system south of Denton Creek. Additional water valves should be periodically provided on the proposed 12" water lines. Please provide the velocity in the various pipes for the siphon crossing. There are various other comments throughout these plans. Please address ail comments on the plans and in this letter. Once all changes have been made, a revised set of plans, plus these mark-up set of plans, should be resubmitted to the City of Coppell for an additional review. If you should have any questions concerning these comments, please feel free to contact me at your convenience. Sincerely, Kenneth M. Griffin, P.E.
