asked if I had any knowledge or
I recall several meetings concerning this matter wherein the city voiced its
objections to the engineering plans which were sought to be approved by the Texas
Water Commission. The city's concern was that the diversion channel would siphon off
enough water to allow the natural channel to pond and become stagnant. I recall one
or more meetings at Mike Allen's office where the engineering plans were reviewed and
an explanation given concerning how this problem was to be alleviated. I believe Wayne
Ginn attended this meeting and should be able to provide you with more information
concerning the actual engineering problems~ that were discussed. The city was also
concerned with the effect the lowering of the water in the natural channel would have
on existing trees and other vegitation bordering the natural drainage channel.
The items used at these meetings consisted of large plats showing the natural
drainage area and the proposed levee channel. I was not able to retain a copy of
these plats, however, I think that Wayne Ginn hud access to them and reviewed ti.em
for the city. Perhaps he may have retained copies of these plats.
