Warren Addition-CS 890417 COPPELL PUBLIC WORKS April 17, 1989 TO: Alan Ratliff, City Manager FROM: Steve Goram, Director of Public Works RE: Warren Drive - Culdesac Public Works received drawings from Ginn, Inc. made by Albert Halff for a temporary culdesac at Warren Drive. Based on these drawings, staff proceeded to obtain price quotes from prospective contractors to determine if the project would require bidding. The price quotes per Albert Halff's design have come in below the bid limit. The design by Albert' Halff is for a culdesac with a radius of 30' This design, in accordance to our current subdivision ordinance, does not meet the minimum standard for a ~culdesac, which is a 40' radius. The Fire Department~has expressed concern for this deviation from our current standards because it would not facilitate the access requirements for their department. Public Works' recommendation is to proceed to allow the Contractor who has provided the low quote, B. J. Scott Construction Co., Inc., to construct the culdesac per Albert Halff's drawings, if the radius is deemed to be within the limits of temporary construction. B. J. Scott Construction Company's quote is for $~,500.00. If the temporary construction is deemed to be required to meet current subdivision ordinance requirements of a minimum of 40' radius, Public Works recommends submitting this project to our Consulting Engineer to develop plans and receive bids for said project. ~ If you have any questions please let me know.
