These changes involve moving water line to correspond with the roadway work in those stages. By making these changes it will allow access to the Stage 2 bridge work earlier and move the 24” water casing bore to stage 4A. Stage 1 Install detours shown on sheets C-93, C-95, C-96 Install water line crossings WL-L @ 28+26, WL-M @ 36+16, WL-M1, WL-N @ 44+70 (these crossings connect to services that will need to be live when the rest of Stage 2 water line is finished and the existing water line abandoned) The remaining water crossings shown in Stage 1 at 13+60, 16+05 and 22+69 all end at a gate valve and a plug. These will be installed in Stage 2 with WL-A into the median and completed with the west side roadway work. Stage 1 water line will be installed from 45+80 to 48+25 with temporary riding surface (geo-grid, flex base, and asphalt). Between the valve at 48+25 and where it crosses the existing 16” water a temporary connection to the existing water line will be made once the water line in Stage 2 is complete. (this connection are is in existing median). The remaining Stage 1 water line from 48+25 to 68+68 will be installed in Stage 4A with the roadwork in that stage. Stage 2 Once traffic is switched to Stage 2 the work will proceed per the planned phasing. The water line will be installed and tested. Once testing is completed then permanent connections can be made to hydrants and services. This work includes the water installation on Southwestern. After all of the connections are made (including temporary connection at 45+80) the existing water line on the east side of the roadway will be abandoned.
