Re: Freeport Update – Mid May 2018
Work Completed – All of the water line laterals crossing the southbound lanes are finished. The
sanitary sewer lateral at Airline crossing the southbound lanes is installed with a temporary tie-in to
the existing line. The southbound sidewalk and median have been removed from the bridge
(difficulties with the sidewalk removal resulted in a two week delay). An asphalt overlay on the right,
southbound lane has been installed to provide a better riding surface where the sidewalk was
removed. Detours have been installed at Bethel, the bridge, and Southwestern (required since
railroad has not installed the temporary crossing arms)(Detour at Dividend not installed, Oncor
needs to remove their light pole). Clearing and grading is complete across the creek for the 24” steel
water line casing.

Three Week Look Ahead – Traffic switch to Stage 2 is scheduled for May 21 and 22. After the
switch concrete pavement removal, bridge demolition, and water line casing installation will begin.
Bridge removal will be followed by drill shaft installation. Casing installation will be followed by 16”
water main installation.
