Street Lighting on Pinyon Lane
For the past several weeks the Fire and Police Departments have
been working several small fires in the cul-de-sac area of Pinyon
Lane. These fires appear to be of a suspicious origin. As such,
they are being handled as potential arson cases.
Several months ago the residents of this neighborhood reported
several cases of prowlers in the area. They were advised at that
time that more street lighting was needed in the area. It is my
understanding that Ray Gonzalez ultimately made arrangement for
additional lighting for the neighborhood and the lighting has
been installed.
The attached easement was apparently provided several months ago
to assist the city in providing some lighting. I do not know if
it was used for the original request or not.
The recent fires have prompted the residents to ask for
additional lighting. Could you please have your staff review
this situation and make a recommendation regarding the need for
additional lighting keeping in mind the precedent setting nature
of providing one neighborhood with more lighting than another.
Please feel free to call if you have any questions.
