Wynnpage Plaza-CS011007To: City_of_CoppelI.Town_Center(citycouncil) Date: Sun, Oct 7, 2001 10:20 PM Subject: Mayor Candy Sheehan Dear Madam Mayor; On October 9 you will consider a developer*s plan for the property fronting the Wynnpage subdivision. I ask that you deny this plan in its present form. I object to the plan*s aim to cut an access drive through property owned by the Wynnpage Estates Homeowners Association. City staff and developers have long known about individual homeowner objections and the Homeowner Association*s objection to driveway cuts through Association property. Yet no options have been brought forward to address taxpayer concerns. More consideration has been given to non-resident developers and non-residents transiting through our community. This is wrong. Comments have been made that there are 3only 78 homes* in our subdivision. As if to say that there are not enough of us to be of concern to the city. I object to this city position. There are many individuals in this subdivision that have contributed to this community. We have served on boards and commissions. Given time and money to fundraisers. Candy, as you know, I have personally given the city a great many hours, and money, to help the library purchase books and equipment. And, I spent considerable time on the first sales tax proposition. I did this because I believe that individuals should be counted on to support the needs of the city and the community * that these efforts ultimately benefit the individual In Coppell, it seems that I was wrong. I find that the city and community feel no obligation to a few individuals in 3only 78 homes.* Only you and the council can right this wrong. There is a compromise position that does not violate our ownership of this property and meets the needs of non-citizens. All you need to do is require an amendment to the plan that eliminates the Wynnpage cut through and insert a drive at the south end of the property. At the same time, you should direct that a median cut be allowed at the south end of the property to serve this drive, It can be done. There are numerous places on Denton Tap / Beltline where cuts have been done to serve businesses. Many of these are closer than the distances often cited by staff. It can work. Thank you for your consideration. Dale L. Griffiths 126 Wynnpage Coppell, TX 972-462-7402 dalegri@flash.nef P.S. The Wynnpage Estates Homeowners Association and its homeowners have spent nearly $35,000 maintaining the property it owns on either side of Wynnpage. A cut through would not only violate this ownership, but would destroy the trees and landscaping that the Association has so diligently maintained.
