Texas Dear Mr. Griffin: A representative of GEE Consultants, Inc. obtained several samples of the pavement subgrade lnaterial at the above referenced project. An auger was used to reach the appropriate subgrade level. The samples were transported to the laboratory and classification tests were performed. The test results are as follows: Sample No. 1 Sample Location: North Approach Drive - 60' E. of E. curb of Town Center Blvd.: center line of Town Center Dr. Sample Depth: 1' to 2' Sample Description: Light Brown 8,: Brown Clayey Sand Liquid Limit: 28 Plastic Limit: 19 Plasticity Index: 9 Percent Passing No. 200 Sieve: 44 Coppeli Family YMCA May 21, 1998 Sample No. 2 Sample Location: Fire Lane adjacent to NE corner of proposed building, 315' E. of E. curb of Town Center Blvd., 60' S. of center line of Town Center Dr. Sample Depth: 0' to 1' Sample Description: Dark Gray Sandy Clay with occasional roots Liquid Limit: 33 Plastic Limit: 16 Plasticity Index: 17 Percent Passing No. 200 Sieve: 64 Sample No. 3 Sample Location: S. Approach off of Town Center Blvd., 10' E. of E. curb of Town Center Blvd. Sample Depth: 1' to 1'6" Sample Description: Reddish Brown Sandy Clay Liquid Limit: 32 Plastic Limit: 15 Plasticity Index: 17 Percent Passing No. 200 Sieve: 53 Based on the above listed test results, and our past experience, it is our opinion that pavement subgrade soils tested do not necessarily need to be lime stabilized. The soils tested are similar to those encountered at test borings advanced as part of our original geotechnical investigation (Report No. Y-198-0125 dated February 12, 1998). Recommendations for pavements sections, that do not utilize lime stabilization as well as all of the recommendations included in our original report remain valid. if you have an3: questions or if you require further information, please do not hesitate to contact us.
