CVS Driveway S Belt Line-CS2011181 Scott Latta From:Mike Dedman <MikeDedman@carlsonconsulting.net> Sent:Wednesday, November 18, 2020 10:33 AM To:Cole Baker; Aaron Morgan; John Grice Cc:Kumar Gali; Darryl Zbranek; Marcus Marion; Joseph Parsley Subject:RE: CVS #11389 Belt Line & Hackberry - Irving, TX Attachments:IMG_1861.JPG Mr. Baker, There are utility issues with expanding the radius in regards to water and irrigation. There is also the issue of not having the rights across the bank lot to expand the radius. That being said, let me clarify that the issue is really with trailers mostly, not so much trucks. The contractor watched the intersection for an hour or so and reported that hitched pick-up trucks were dragging their trailers over the curb. Reasonably expanding the radius is unlikely to alleviate this problem as drivers tend to hug the interior radius so their trailer will still be dragged over the curb of a reasonably expanded radius. Though on a larger scale, I’ve attached is a picture of the intersection of Belt Line and Hackberry on the southeast quadrant. The radius and width of the lane is plenty big enough to accommodate the largest trucks yet you still see where the trucks are dragging the trailer across the curb because of how they drive. If we place 6” reinforced concrete behind the curb this should solve the problem. It seems like that would provide a more permanent solution and prevent long-term damage to the curb and sidewalk. Are there any utility conflicts or other issues that would make that difficult?
