RE: Obstructions Placed in Alley at 262 Barclay Avenue
Dear Mr. Sacob:
The area in between the fences in your alley is alley fight-of-way. This alley right-of-way is ovaxed by the
City of Coppell. It was deeded to the City when your subdivision was originally platted. This is not
property that you own. Your property probably ends at your hack fence. The alley fight-of-way is part of
your lot and you are requked to maintain it. We do have easements in the alley fight-of-way where utility
companies place their service lines and junction boxes, etc.
We do not allow residents to place traffic hazards in alley right-of-ways. The large rocks could cause
substantial damage to a vehicle and could severely injure a child on a bicycle. A couple of weeks ago, a
City frre ~axck sustained several thousand dollars in damages due to rocks that were placed in an alley fight-
of-way. By your own ~dmi~sinn, these rocks have been placed in the alley in an attempt to force traffic to
stay off the grass. The City of Conoell Code of Ordinances. Section 8-2-7 states, "It shall be unlawful for
any person to place, maintain, or display upon or in view of any highway, street, or alley any unauthorized
sign, signal, marking, or device which purports to be or is an imitation of or resembles an official traffic
control device or raikoad sign, or signal, or which attempts to direct the movement of traffic, or which
hides from view or interferes with the effectiveness of any official traffic conn'ol device or any railroad sign
or signal (Ord. No. 179)." These rocks represent a t~affic hazard and must be removed immediately. City
crews will be out to remove the rocks on Friday, December 2I, 2001. If the location of your sprinkler
heads are a problem, I would suggest that they be relocated next to your fence. The resident across the
alley from you has also been notified that the rocks on their side need to be removed.
If you have any questions or comments regarding this matter, do not hesitate to call my office at (972) 304-
3545.
Thanks you for your cooperation.

RE: Obstructions Placed in Alley at 25 l Aspenway
Dear Mr. Verver:
The area in between the fences in your alley is alley right-of-way. This alley right-of-way is owned by the
City of Coppell. It was deeded to the City when your subdivision was originally platted. This is not
property that you own. Your property probably ends at your back fence. The alley right-of-way is part of
your lot and you are required to maintain it. We do have easements in the alley right-of-way where utility
companies place their service lines. There may be an additional five-fuot easement on your property.
We do not allow residents to place traffic hazards in the alley right-of-ways. The large rocks could cause
substantial damage to a vehicle and could severely injure a child on a bicycle. A couple of weeks ago, a
City fire truck sustained several thousand dollars in damages due to rocks that were placed in an alley right-
